The Vijayawada police investigation into local terror links has uncovered a major recruitment network following the interrogation of a key suspect. Security agencies have identified Syeda Begum, a resident of Hyderabad, as a central figure in attempting to radicalize and recruit women for extremist activities.

Recruitment of Youth Through Social Media

Investigation findings reveal that Syeda Begum successfully recruited 42 young women into an organized network. She reportedly utilized a specialized WhatsApp group titled 'KHAWATEEN' to facilitate communication and indoctrination. The platform was used to circulate videos of high-profile terrorists, including Osama bin Laden and Zakir Naik, to attract youth toward extremist ideologies.

The suspect's digital footprint extended to Instagram, where she allegedly operated 40 different accounts to host and share inflammatory content. These accounts served as a funnel to draw in potential recruits before transitioning them to more private communication channels.

Preparations for Weapons Training

Authorities have gathered evidence indicating a structured training pipeline. According to the police, the radicalization process began with religious instruction in select madrasas, which was intended to be followed by formal weapons training. The investigation suggests that the transition to physical combat training was in the preparatory stages when the network was intercepted.

Police have seized a significant volume of digital evidence, including numerous PDF files from WhatsApp. Preliminary forensic analysis identifies these documents as recruitment manuals and training modules designed to streamline the operational capabilities of the group.

Ongoing Investigation into Terror Network

The Vijayawada police are currently conducting a deep-dive investigation into the broader links of this network to identify other coordinators and financiers. Officials believe that the 42 identified recruits may only represent a segment of a larger clandestine operation spanning multiple cities.

As the interrogation proceeds, investigators expect more details regarding the network's long-term objectives and potential domestic targets to emerge. Security is being tightened across sensitive locations while the police track the remaining members associated with the 'KHAWATEEN' group.
