Shamshabad Police Register Case After Trial Run Vehicle Catches Fire Near Hyderabad Airport
Engine Malfunction Leads To Vehicle Fire At Siddhanti
A Mahindra vehicle was gutted in a fire on the busy Hyderabad Airport road near Siddhanti in Shamshabad on Thursday. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Shamshabad Airport Police Station, causing significant disruption to commuters heading toward the international terminal.
Initial reports indicate that the vehicle belonged to a mechanic based in Thondapally. The car was being taken for a trial run following extensive engine repairs when the driver noticed smoke emanating from the bonnet, followed by a sudden blaze.
Massive Traffic Congestion On Airport Approach Road
The fire resulted in a heavy traffic jam stretching nearly two kilometers along the airport approach road. As the vehicle was engulfed in flames in the middle of the thoroughfare, transit to the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) was severely affected for several hours.
Emergency services and local police personnel arrived at the scene to cordoned off the area to ensure public safety. Firefighters were deployed to douse the flames, though the vehicle suffered total damage due to the intensity of the heat and fuel combustion.
Police Investigation Into Mechanical Failure
The Shamshabad Airport Police have initiated an inquiry into the cause of the fire. Preliminary findings suggest a mechanical or electrical short circuit during the post-repair trial run as the likely trigger for the accident.
Traffic police worked to clear the charred remains of the vehicle using cranes to restore the flow of vehicles. Officials have advised mechanics and vehicle owners to exercise extreme caution during trial runs on high-traffic corridors to prevent such hazardous incidents.
