Vanasthalipuram police registered a case following a fatal road accident in the Hastinapuram area where a speeding car hit multiple people. The incident involved a vehicle driven at high speed by an individual allegedly under the influence of alcohol, leading to the death of two students.
According to preliminary reports, the car first struck a pedestrian and subsequently rammed into a motorcycle carrying two B.Tech students. The impact was so severe that the vehicle dragged the victims for approximately 100 meters before it eventually overturned on the road.
Fatalities and Critical Injuries Reported
The two B.Tech students, who were traveling on the motorcycle at the time of the collision, sustained fatal injuries and died at the spot. The pedestrian, who was struck during the initial impact, sustained grievous injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency medical treatment.
The vehicle involved in the accident was reportedly being driven in a rash and negligent manner. Witness accounts suggest that the driver lost total control of the steering after the initial collision, resulting in the car flipping over several times.
Police Investigation and Legal Action
Vanasthalipuram Police arrived at the accident site in Hastinapuram to secure the area and clear the wreckage. The bodies of the deceased students have been shifted for post-mortem examination as per standard legal protocol.
The police have confirmed that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) concerning rash driving and causing death by negligence. Investigators are currently verifying the blood alcohol levels of the driver to confirm the extent of intoxication at the time of the crash.
