GHMC Conducts Uppal Crossroads Closure for Elevated Corridor Construction
The Uppal crossroads closure has come into effect from Sunday as authorities began pillar construction works for the elevated corridor project near Uppal Electricity Junction in Hyderabad. The latest update issued by officials said traffic diversions have been implemented on a temporary basis to manage vehicle movement in the busy corridor.
The junction is considered one of the most congested traffic points in the eastern part of the city. Authorities have urged commuters to follow alternative routes and avoid unnecessary travel through the Uppal stretch during peak hours.
Uppal Crossroads Closure Triggers Traffic Diversions
According to incident details released by traffic and civic authorities, all vehicles travelling towards Warangal via Uppal Ring Road are being diverted due to the ongoing construction works.
Officials confirmed that the Warangal bus stop located beside the GHMC office had already been shifted to the Uppal Nalla Cheruvu embankment area as part of the traffic management plan linked to the elevated corridor project.
The Uppal crossroads closure is expected to affect daily commuters, RTC buses, heavy vehicles and local traffic movement in surrounding areas including Habsiguda, Nagole and Nacharam.
Alternative Routes Issued by Authorities
As per the official statement, heavy vehicles travelling from Habsiguda towards Warangal must take the route via Nacharam, Mallapur, IOC and Chengicherla before joining the Warangal highway.
Small vehicles have been advised to move through the rear road near Little Flower School from Uppal Indira Gandhi Park to reach the Warangal road.
Vehicles entering Uppal from the Warangal side will be diverted through the HMDA road opposite the Asian Cinema Theatre towards the Nagole road stretch.
Police officials also instructed two-wheeler riders to use the road near Nagole Metro pillars 812 and 813 to proceed towards Uppal and Secunderabad.
Heavy Vehicles Asked To Use ORR Route
Authorities stated that heavy vehicles coming from the Warangal side towards Hyderabad must take a U-turn beneath the Nagole bridge before proceeding towards Uppal.
Vehicles heading towards Warangal have been advised to connect to the highway through the HMDA layout route.
In another key traffic update, buses, lorries and heavy vehicles entering Hyderabad from Warangal have been directed to use the Outer Ring Road via Hayathnagar to reach the city.
Police Monitoring Traffic Movement
Traffic police personnel and civic authorities are monitoring the situation at key junctions following the Uppal crossroads closure. Barricades and diversion signboards have been placed in multiple locations to regulate traffic flow.
Officials said the temporary closure will remain in force until completion of the elevated corridor pillar construction work. Commuters have been advised to cooperate with authorities and follow designated diversion routes to avoid congestion.
The Uppal crossroads closure remains a major traffic update for Hyderabad commuters, with the police investigation into traffic flow and congestion management continuing during the construction phase.
