Bhopal Police Probe Twisha Sharma Death After Post-Mortem Findings
The Twisha Sharma death case in Bhopal has taken a significant turn after the post-mortem report confirmed death by hanging while also documenting multiple injury marks on the body. The latest update has intensified the ongoing dispute between the victim’s family and her in-laws over whether the case involves suicide or foul play.
The 33-year-old woman was found hanging at her residence on May 12, and the medical findings have now become central to the police investigation. Officials are also awaiting toxicology and DNA examination reports as part of the ongoing probe.

AIIMS Bhopal Post-Mortem Report Details Cause of Death
According to the autopsy conducted by the Department of Forensic Medicine and Toxicology at AIIMS Bhopal, Twisha Sharma died due to “antemortem hanging by ligature.” The report stated that she was found hanging from a gymnastic ring rope on the terrace of her house around 10.26 pm.
Doctors recorded double reddish ligature marks on the upper neck area and noted signs commonly associated with asphyxia. The report mentioned facial congestion, bluish discoloration of fingernails and ears, and internal congestion in organs including the lungs and brain.
Medical experts also documented “Tardieu’s spots” in the lungs, which are generally linked to asphyxiation cases. The body was later declared dead shortly after midnight on May 13.
Injury Marks Add Fresh Questions in Twisha Sharma Case
Even though the post-mortem concluded hanging as the cause of death, the report also recorded several simple antemortem injuries caused by blunt force. These included bruises and abrasions on the neck, arm, forearm, wrist and finger.
Doctors additionally noted a bruise beneath the scalp in the left frontoparietal region. The presence of these injuries has added to questions already raised by Twisha Sharma’s family regarding the incident details surrounding her death.
The victim’s family has alleged dowry harassment and mental torture after her marriage to Bhopal resident Samarth Singh in December 2025. Family members have repeatedly demanded an independent investigation and a second post-mortem examination.
Police Investigation Continues Amid Suicide and Murder Claims
The conflicting claims from both families have kept the Twisha Sharma death case under close scrutiny. Her father, Navnidhi Sharma, alleged that evidence tampering attempts were made and accused the in-laws of trying to damage Twisha’s public image.
On the other hand, the victim’s mother-in-law, retired judge Giribala Singh, maintained that Twisha was emotionally disturbed after learning about her pregnancy. She claimed the deceased wanted a medical termination of pregnancy and denied allegations made against the family.
Police officials have not issued any final conclusion regarding the nature of death. However, authorities confirmed that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) and multiple local teams are continuing efforts to trace and arrest Samarth Singh, who has been named as the prime accused in the case.
No Drug Evidence Found, Forensic Tests Pending
Another major development in the case is the absence of any evidence related to drug consumption. Police earlier dismissed allegations suggesting that Twisha Sharma had substance abuse issues.
Officials stated that neither the post-mortem report nor the current investigation found any indication supporting those claims. The clarification has become an important part of the case as competing narratives continue to emerge from both sides.
Authorities confirmed that blood samples, viscera, hair and nail clippings have been sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory for toxicology and DNA testing. The forensic reports are expected to play a crucial role in the next phase of the investigation.
Police have also initiated communication with the Regional Passport Office regarding a lookout notice against the accused. A reward of Rs 10,000 has been announced for information leading to his arrest.
The Twisha Sharma death case remains under active police investigation, with forensic findings, injury reports and pending laboratory examinations expected to shape the direction of the probe in the coming days.
