Telangana Police Register Case Against T-Wallet Vendor Over Data Breach
Allegations surface after contract expiry
A major data security issue has emerged in the Telangana government’s T-Wallet platform, with police registering a case against a private firm responsible for its operations. The firm, Transaction Analysts India Private Limited, had been handling T-Wallet management.
Authorities allege that even after the expiry of its contract, the company failed to hand over critical digital assets. These include user data, transaction records, and the platform’s source code, all of which are mandated to be transferred to the government.
Arrest made, senior officials absconding
Police have arrested Srinivasulu, Chief of Projects at Transaction Analysts India Private Limited, in connection with the case. Meanwhile, the company’s Chief Executive Officer and Project Manager are currently absconding.
The case has been registered under charges related to data misuse and breach of contractual obligations. Investigations are ongoing to trace the absconding officials and secure the remaining digital assets.

Attempt to divert user data flagged
During the probe, officials identified attempts to divert user data from the T-Wallet platform to a private application. This raised concerns about potential misuse of sensitive information belonging to users of the government service.
Authorities also found that the firm allegedly created obstacles in transferring data and source code back to the government. These actions reportedly delayed the transition of the project to another agency.
Obstruction in project handover under scrutiny
Investigators have further stated that the company intentionally hindered the handover of the T-Wallet project to a new organisation. This obstruction is being treated as a serious violation, given the nature of the platform as a public digital service.
The alleged misuse of government-owned digital assets has also come under focus. Officials are examining the extent of access retained by the company post-contract and the impact on system integrity.
Background and administrative response
T-Wallet is a digital payment platform used for government and public transactions in Telangana. It handles sensitive financial and user-related data, making compliance with data transfer and security protocols critical.
Following the developments, authorities are expected to strengthen oversight mechanisms in managing outsourced digital platforms. Further action will depend on findings from the ongoing investigation.
