Telangana Introduces MeeSeva Urea Booking Facility for Farmers

The Telangana government has launched a new facility allowing farmers to book urea through MeeSeva centres, expanding access to fertiliser procurement for those who do not use the official mobile application. The initiative is intended to make the booking process more accessible while maintaining a uniform and verified distribution system.

Announcing the initiative on Tuesday, the state government said farmers can now reserve urea either through the existing mobile application or by visiting any authorised MeeSeva centre. The new option is expected to benefit farmers who may not have access to smartphones or who are unable to use the app-based booking system.

Under the revised process, farmers can complete the booking by providing their PPB number at a MeeSeva centre. After verification through a One-Time Password (OTP) sent to the registered mobile number, the system will generate a booking ID immediately.

According to the government, the booking ID will remain valid for 48 hours from the time it is issued. Farmers must purchase the urea from the dealer selected during the booking process within this validity period.

Official booking process

The government clarified that only bookings made through the official mobile application or the newly introduced MeeSeva facility will be recognised as valid. It said this measure is intended to ensure transparency and proper allocation of fertiliser supplies.

To complete the booking, farmers must have an active mobile number capable of receiving the OTP required for authentication. Without successful OTP verification, the booking process cannot be completed.

The state has fixed the MeeSeva service charge for the booking facility at Rs. 10 per transaction.

Support for farmers

The Telangana government has advised farmers who require assistance with the new booking system to contact their local Agriculture Extension Officer (AEO), Mandal Agriculture Officer (MAO), or the nearest MeeSeva centre.

Officials said these channels will provide guidance on the booking procedure and help resolve any issues related to urea reservations.

Wider access to fertiliser booking

The addition of MeeSeva centres as an official booking channel broadens access to the state's fertiliser distribution system by providing an alternative to app-based reservations. Farmers can now choose the method most convenient for them while continuing to follow the government's authenticated booking process.

The government reiterated that an active mobile number is mandatory for all bookings, regardless of whether they are made through the mobile application or a MeeSeva centre, as OTP verification forms a key part of the registration process.
