The Bharat Rashtra Samithi is saying that the Telangana government has failed to protect the states water interests. They claim that Karnataka is building water projects upstream that are not allowed and this will hurt the water supply for farmers in Telangana.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLA, T. Harish Rao wrote a letter to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday, June 24. In the letter Harish Rao said that the Telangana government is not doing anything to stop Karnataka from building these projects. He thinks this is like giving up Telanganas rights to the water from the Tungabhadra river.
Harish Rao talked about projects that Karnataka is building on the Tungabhadra river. He said that Karnataka is building three bridge-cum-barrages without getting the approvals. These projects are at Kuridi, Chikkalaparvai and Chikkalamachi. They will hold a lot of water. This will hurt the farmers in Telangana especially in the Palamooru region which does not have enough water.

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi said that these projects do not have the approvals from the Central Water Commission and the Krishna River Management Board. Also Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, which are the states that will be affected by these projects have not given their consent.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi is worried about the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme which's an important irrigation network for farmers in southern Telangana. Harish Rao said that the Kuridi Lift Irrigation Scheme in Karnataka is already 60 per cent complete and this will hurt the water supply for the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme.
Harish Rao asked why the Telangana government has not complained to Karnataka or the regulatory bodies about these projects. He warned that if these projects are completed they will severely reduce the water supply for the Rajolibanda Diversion Scheme and other irrigation schemes.
This issue has become political. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi is questioning why the Telangana government is not doing anything to stop Karnataka from building these projects. Harish Rao thinks that the Telangana government is not doing anything because Karnataka has given approval for a project in Telangana.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi is saying that the Telangana government has given up the states water interests. They want the Chief Minister to do something to stop Karnataka from building these projects and to make sure that Telangana gets the water it needs for its farmers.
The Bharat Rashtra Samithi wants the Chief Minister to take action to stop Karnatakas unauthorized work and to secure the water allocations, for Telanganas agricultural sector. They think that the Telangana government should be doing more to protect the states water interests. The Bharat Rashtra Samithi is demanding that the Chief Minister break his silence on this issue.
