Police Register Case After Student Suicide at Vikas College Hostel
Incident Reported in Early Hours
A student died by suicide at the hostel of Vikas Educational Institutions in Vissannapeta on Tuesday, early morning. The incident occurred inside the college campus, where the student was residing.
The deceased has been identified as Malladi Karthik (20), a native of Tatakuntla village in Vissannapeta mandal. He was studying first year of D.Pharmacy at the institution.
Found Hanging in Hostel Room
Karthik was staying on the third floor of the hostel building within the college premises. According to available details, he was found hanging in his room in the early hours of the day.
Fellow students, who woke up and noticed the incident, immediately alerted the college management. The development caused shock among students in the hostel.
Police Begin Inquiry, Body Sent for Postmortem
Upon receiving information, police reached the spot and began collecting details related to the incident. The body was shifted to the local government hospital for postmortem examination.
Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the death.
Cause Yet to Be Established
The reason behind the student’s suicide has not been established so far. The college chairman stated that the death was unfortunate and further clarity would emerge only after the postmortem report is received.
