Incident Occurs Near Lankalakoderu Railway Station
According to the details provided by the victim, the incident took place on Tuesday near the Lankalakoderu railway station. Suresh had participated in the ‘Badi Pilusthondi’ programme and was heading back home on a two-wheeler.
When he reached a bridge near Bhageswaram village, a former student, who is a minor, allegedly intercepted him. The accused stopped the teacher on the road and attacked him with an iron rod.
Attack Continues During Resistance
During the assault, the teacher attempted to defend himself and tried to snatch the iron rod. In the process, the accused picked up a stone lying on the road and continued the attack.
The teacher suffered serious head injuries in the incident. He required around seven stitches and was later shifted to the Government Hospital in Palakollu, where he is receiving treatment.
Education Officials Approach Police
After receiving information about the incident, district education authorities took note and initiated action. District Educational Officer Narayana, along with Mandal Education Officers Gummalla Veeraswamy and Sharma, filed a complaint with the police.
Officials confirmed that the matter has been formally reported and legal action is being pursued. Police have registered a case and are examining the circumstances surrounding the attack.
Previous Dispute Suspected
Preliminary information indicates that the accused student may have held a grudge against the teacher. It is stated that around two years ago, the teacher had advised the student to follow proper conduct.
This earlier interaction is suspected to have led to resentment, which may have resulted in the attack. The exact motive is expected to be established during the course of the investigation.
The incident has raised concerns within the education department regarding the safety of teachers outside school premises. Authorities are treating the case as a serious matter involving both student behaviour and public safety.
