Accused held at airport after suspicious behaviour

Shamshabad police have arrested a man identified as Balakrishna for allegedly impersonating a CISF officer and cheating multiple women. The accused was found moving around at Shamshabad Airport in a uniform resembling that of a CISF official.

Security personnel grew suspicious of his behaviour and questioned him. His responses were found to be inconsistent, prompting immediate detention and handover to the police for further inquiry.

Impersonation used to target unmarried women

During interrogation, Balakrishna admitted that he had been wearing police attire to gain trust and deceive unmarried women. He reportedly used matrimonial websites to present himself as a police officer and initiate contact with potential victims.

The accused is said to have built trust with the women before exploiting them for financial and other benefits under the pretext of marriage.

Police shocked by scale of fraud

Investigators were taken aback by the details revealed during questioning. The accused confessed to cheating as many as 67 women using the same method.

Police officials noted that the pattern involved establishing credibility through false identity, followed by financial exploitation once trust was secured.

Accused identified as Srikakulam native

Authorities have identified Balakrishna as a resident of Srikakulam district. Further investigation is underway to verify the extent of the fraud and trace additional victims, if any.

Police are also examining digital evidence, including activity on matrimonial platforms, as part of the ongoing probe.
