YSRCP leader Roja issues warning against ABN Andhra Jyothy management
Protest actions and warning statements
Tensions escalated after YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leaders allegedly attempted to attack the ABN Andhra Jyothy office in Hyderabad, while party cadres staged protests against the media organisation in Tirupati. The developments come amid growing friction between the party and the media house.
Speaking during the protest, senior YSRCP leader Roja made strong remarks targeting ABN Andhra Jyothy Managing Director Vemuri Radhakrishna. She accused him of misusing journalism and alleged that content published by the organisation was defamatory, particularly towards women leaders.
Allegations against media management
Roja alleged that Radhakrishna had engaged in “brokerage” under the guise of journalism and warned against publishing content that insults women. She said the party would not remain silent if such reporting continued and issued a strong caution over potential consequences.
She further criticised Radhakrishna’s rise in wealth, claiming it was widely known how he progressed financially. Roja also accused him of acting as a proxy for opposition leader N. Chandrababu Naidu and criticised his editorial stance, referring to his commentary platform.
Political remarks and counter-attacks
The YSRCP leader also addressed political opponents, stating that restraint shown by her party should not be mistaken for weakness. She warned that if provoked further, party members could respond more aggressively in public discourse.
Roja criticised Chandrababu Naidu over regional development issues, particularly questioning his commitment to Rayalaseema. She pointed out that funds were not allocated for the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation project while larger financial commitments were proposed for Amaravati.
Allegations on inter-state dealings
She also accused Naidu of entering into undisclosed agreements with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, alleging that such actions compromised Andhra Pradesh’s interests. Roja claimed that halting projects in Rayalaseema that were reportedly 87 per cent complete would severely impact the region.
She stated that the party would launch a major agitation if such decisions continued, framing the issue as one affecting the livelihoods and development prospects of the region.
The remarks come against the backdrop of ongoing confrontations between political parties and sections of the media in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Protests and counter-allegations have intensified in recent weeks, with both sides accusing each other of bias and misinformation.
