Kamareddy Farmer Writes Open Letter to Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Over Agricultural Concerns
A farmer supporter from Kamareddy district has written an emotional open letter to Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, expressing concern over growing dissatisfaction among farmers and urging the government to address key issues affecting the agricultural sector.
In the letter, G. Venkat Rao, who described himself as an admirer of the Chief Minister, said he was troubled by the criticism being directed at both the government and the Chief Minister by farmers at cooperative societies across the state. He stated that hearing such complaints had become difficult for him to bear.
According to the letter, farmer discontent is widespread and extends across villages and mandals. Venkat Rao claimed that more than 65% of the agricultural sector currently holds a negative view of the government and its policies. He argued that this level of dissatisfaction is not being adequately recognised by the administration.
The letter focuses on two agriculture-related issues that the writer believes are contributing significantly to the growing resentment among farmers.
One of the concerns raised is the implementation of the urea distribution app. Venkat Rao questioned why Telangana has adopted a urea app when, according to him, no other state has introduced a similar system. He appealed to the Chief Minister to remove the application, suggesting that it has become a source of frustration among sections of the farming community.
The second issue relates to the Rythu Bandhu investment support scheme, a flagship farmer assistance programme introduced during the previous Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government. Venkat Rao urged the Chief Minister to continue providing Rythu Bandhu benefits to farmers in the same manner as before, arguing that many cultivators who placed their trust in the government expect uninterrupted support.
Concerns Over Farmer Sentiment
In his appeal, Venkat Rao maintained that dissatisfaction within the agricultural sector stems largely from these two policy matters. He suggested that the continuation of Rythu Bandhu and the removal of the urea app could help improve relations between the government and the farming community.
The letter also reflects the continued political significance of agricultural welfare programmes in Telangana. According to the writer, the impact of schemes introduced during the tenure of former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao remains visible in rural areas, where farmers continue to recall those initiatives.
While the letter represents the views of an individual supporter rather than an official assessment, it highlights concerns being voiced within parts of the farming community regarding agricultural policy and government support mechanisms.
