Railway Official Suspended After Alleged Assault on Passenger at Chittoor Station

A railway official working in the Guntakal Railway Division has been suspended following an incident in which she allegedly assaulted a passenger at Chittoor Railway Station.

According to railway authorities, K. Jyothi, who was serving as RS-2/CTO in the Commercial Department of the Guntakal Division, was placed under suspension by the Principal Chief Commercial Controller of South Coast Railway on June 14.

The disciplinary action was taken after reports surfaced regarding an incident in which the official allegedly struck a female passenger with a slipper at Chittoor Railway Station. The matter came to light after a delay, prompting railway authorities to initiate action against the employee.

Officials stated that the suspension order will remain in force until further instructions are issued. During the suspension period, K. Jyothi will remain relieved of her official duties and will not be permitted to perform her responsibilities as a railway employee.

The case has attracted attention within railway circles, as authorities moved to address the allegations through departmental action. No further details regarding the circumstances that led to the incident or any additional inquiry proceedings were immediately available.

Railway authorities have not announced any further disciplinary measures at this stage. The suspension is expected to remain in effect pending future decisions by the competent authority.

The incident highlights the importance of maintaining professional conduct in public service institutions, particularly in environments that involve regular interaction with passengers. Railway administrations routinely examine complaints involving staff behaviour and may initiate disciplinary proceedings when misconduct allegations arise.
