Punjab Police Probe Teen Girl Murder, Arrest Accused in Lover's Daughter Case

A teenage girl murder case in Punjab has led to the arrest of a man accused of killing his lover's daughter and allegedly trying to destroy evidence. The latest update in the police investigation has drawn attention after officials said the victim's partially burnt body was recovered from a forest area.

According to incident details, the crime took place in Punjab's Nawanshahr district. Police said a 24-year-old man, identified as Gurvinder Singh, was in a relationship with a woman whose 16-year-old daughter was reportedly against the association. Investigators believe the accused held a grudge against the teenager over her opposition.

Teen Girl Murder Case and Incident Details

Police officials said the girl was alone at home on May 29 when the accused allegedly strangled her to death. After the murder, he is alleged to have placed the body inside a travel bag and transported it on a motorcycle to a forest area.

Investigators said the accused then attempted to set the body on fire. The case later became part of a wider police investigation after the girl was reported missing.

Police Investigation Uncovers CCTV Evidence

After the teenager went missing, her mother, accompanied by Gurvinder Singh, approached the police station and lodged a complaint. The woman also submitted CCTV footage that appeared to show her daughter leaving the house.

During the investigation, however, police found that the girl seen in the footage was not the missing teenager. Officers then collected additional CCTV recordings from the area surrounding the house.

According to officials, the footage showed the accused travelling on a motorcycle with a travel bag attached to it. The evidence became a key part of the police investigation.

Accused Arrested, Case Registered

Police said the accused was taken into custody for questioning and allegedly confessed to the crime during interrogation. An official statement said that the partially burnt body of the teenager was later recovered from a forest area in Hoshiarpur district.

Authorities confirmed that the accused has been arrested and a case has been registered under various sections of the law. The investigation is continuing, and officials are examining all aspects connected to the incident.

The latest update from the authorities indicates that the police investigation was aided by CCTV evidence and subsequent questioning of the accused. Officials have not disclosed further details as the inquiry remains underway.
