Pendurthi Police Register Attempt to Murder Case After Woman Stabbed

A 19-year-old woman was seriously injured after being allegedly attacked by a former POCSO case accused in Visakhapatnam's Pendurthi area. The accused, who was recently released on bail, allegedly targeted the woman after she refused to marry him.

The case has once again raised concerns over crimes linked to stalking, harassment, and rejected relationships.

Woman Attacked After Refusing Marriage Proposal

According to the police investigation, the victim is a resident of Payakaraopeta in Anakapalli district. Two years ago, she was studying Intermediate while staying in a college hostel near NAD Junction in Visakhapatnam.

During that period, she became acquainted with 22-year-old Dalli Saichandu, a resident of Ganesh Nagar near Pendurthi Railway Station. The acquaintance later developed into a relationship.

Police said the accused allegedly recorded photographs and videos of the woman and later used them to blackmail her. Following a complaint from the victim's parents, Payakaraopeta police registered a POCSO case against Saichandu as the girl was a minor at the time. He was remanded to judicial custody in March this year.

Bail Accused Allegedly Launches Fresh Attack

After securing bail, Saichandu reportedly learned that the woman had returned to Visakhapatnam in search of employment and contacted her again.

As per sources, a confrontation was anticipated, and the accused's mother reportedly brought both of them to their residence in Ganesh Nagar. Later, when the woman was preparing to leave for Rajamahendravaram for work-related reasons, the accused allegedly stopped her and insisted that she marry him.

The victim reportedly told him that her career and future were more important than marriage at that stage. Police said the accused became enraged and allegedly attacked her with a knife and a pair of scissors, causing severe injuries to her neck.

Victim Undergoing Recovery, Police Continue Investigation

After the attack, local residents rushed the injured woman to the Pendurthi Community Health Centre. She was later shifted to King George Hospital for advanced treatment.

Officials said the woman is now recovering. She has subsequently been accommodated at a rehabilitation home in Chinamushidivada for her safety and support.

The latest update indicates that her condition is stable.

Accused Hospitalised, Arrest Planned

Meanwhile, police revealed that Saichandu had allegedly attempted suicide on June 15 by consuming bathroom cleaning liquid at a relative's house in Gopalapatnam. He survived the attempt after receiving medical attention.

During Friday's attack, the accused also sustained injuries and reportedly lost consciousness. He is currently undergoing treatment at King George Hospital.

Pendurthi Circle Inspector K.V. Satish Kumar said the accused would be arrested once he is discharged from the hospital.

Based on the victim's complaint, police have registered an attempt to murder case and intensified the investigation. Officials said further legal action will follow after the accused's medical condition permits custodial procedures.

The Pendurthi police investigation remains underway, with authorities examining all incident details linked to the case. The accused was arrested in an earlier POCSO case and now faces fresh charges related to the alleged attack.
