The Palnadu District Police administration faces serious allegations of misconduct after an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) was accused of extorting money from couples in Macherla. Reports indicate that the officer targeted young pairs in secluded areas to record videos, which were later used for blackmail and harassment.

Extortion and Harassment Allegations

The accused ASI, stationed within the Macherla constituency, allegedly engaged an auto-driver from Jammalamadaka to assist in tracking couples. The duo reportedly recorded videos of unsuspecting individuals in private moments. These recordings were subsequently used to demand illegal gratification from the victims.

Beyond financial extortion, the allegations suggest a deeper pattern of abuse. The officer reportedly used the filmed content to intimidate and sexually harass young women and housewives, demanding they fulfill his illicit demands to prevent the videos from being leaked or shared.

Evidence Surfaces on Social Media

The matter came to public attention after video clips showing the ASI’s threatening behavior began circulating on social media platforms. The viral footage has sparked outrage among local residents, who are now questioning the safety of citizens and the integrity of the local police force.

There are further accusations suggesting that the ASI is not acting alone. Local residents have alleged that a Sub-Inspector (SI) and certain constables in the region are involved in similar predatory behavior, specifically targeting women through intimidation tactics.

Administrative Response and Accountability

Following the social media backlash, the district police leadership is expected to initiate a formal inquiry into the conduct of the Macherla police personnel. Such incidents often lead to immediate suspension and departmental proceedings to maintain the department's public image.

The incident highlights a critical lapse in departmental supervision in Palnadu district. Senior officials are under pressure to take stringent action against the accused officers to restore public confidence in the law enforcement machinery.
