Two Fresh Cases Registered Against Old City ‘Gold Man’ Surya Bhai
Two new criminal cases have been registered against Surya Bhai, also known as Surya, who gained prominence on social media as Hyderabad's "Old City Gold Man." The latest action includes a cheating case involving an alleged ₹32 lakh fraud and another case accusing him of providing false information to the police.
According to police officials, the investigations into both matters are at different stages, and Surya Bhai has not been arrested in either case so far.
₹32 Lakh Cheating Allegation Leads to Zero FIR
The first case stems from a complaint filed by a man identified as Chari at the Attapur Police Station. In his complaint, the victim alleged that Surya Bhai promised to supply gold jewellery at prices significantly lower than the prevailing market rates.
Believing the offer, the complainant claimed he paid approximately ₹32 lakh to Surya Bhai in multiple instalments. However, despite receiving the money, the accused allegedly neither delivered the promised jewellery nor returned the amount, prompting the victim to approach the police.
During the preliminary inquiry, police found that the financial transactions connected to the complaint had taken place within the jurisdiction of the Narayanaguda Police Station. Following established procedure, Attapur Police registered a Zero FIR before transferring the case to Narayanaguda Police for detailed investigation.
A Zero FIR allows police to register a complaint irrespective of jurisdiction so that an investigation can begin without delay before the case is transferred to the appropriate police station.
Separate Case Over Alleged False Police Complaint
Surya Bhai is also facing legal action in connection with an earlier complaint that he had lodged with the police.
According to Attapur Police, an internal inquiry into that complaint concluded that the allegations made by him were fabricated and without factual basis. Investigators said the complaint had allegedly been filed with the intention of misleading the police by providing false information.
Based on the findings of the inquiry, Attapur Police have registered a separate case against Surya Bhai under the relevant legal provisions for allegedly furnishing false information to law enforcement authorities.
Investigations Continue
Police said both cases remain under investigation.
The alleged ₹32 lakh cheating case is now being handled by Narayanaguda Police, who are recording the complainant's statements and examining the financial transactions mentioned in the complaint.
Meanwhile, Attapur Police are continuing legal proceedings relating to the alleged false complaint filed by Surya Bhai. Officials clarified that no arrest has been made in either of the newly registered cases as the investigations are still in the preliminary stage.
The latest developments add to the legal scrutiny surrounding Surya Bhai, whose social media presence had earned him recognition as the "Old City Gold Man." Police have indicated that further action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigations.
