Harish Rao demands probe into Nadergul land scam, seeks action

Allegations of large-scale encroachment surface

BRS deputy floor leader T Harish Rao has alleged a major land scam in Nadergul, claiming that nearly 373 acres of government land have been illegally encroached. He estimated the value of the land at around Rs 7,000 crore and accused the Congress government of failing to protect public property.

Rao further alleged that firms linked to the family of Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy were involved in the encroachment. He called for immediate intervention by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy and other authorities.

Farmers claim denial of access

Following a meeting with farmers at Telangana Bhavan on Sunday, Rao said nearly 600 రైతులు who had cultivated the land for generations were now being denied entry. He alleged that coercive methods were being used to force them out.

According to him, borewells were destroyed, security personnel were deployed and cases were filed against farmers. He also stated that women farmers were being pressured to vacate the land.

Court orders and land records cited

Rao said the land in Survey No. 613 (new 119) had already been declared government property and placed under the prohibited list. The Kandukur RDO had earlier invalidated transactions linked to the land and included it in the Dharani portal.

He added that the High Court, through both Single and Division Benches in October 2022, upheld the RDO’s decision and directed criminal proceedings against those involved. The case is currently pending before the Supreme Court, with no stay in place.

He also noted that the land continues to be listed under the prohibited category in the Bhu Bharati portal.

Links to firms and environmental concerns raised

The BRS leader alleged that companies such as Kohinoor Group and Shilpa Infra were attempting to take control by fencing the land and putting up boards. He claimed these entities were linked to the minister’s family members.

Rao also raised environmental concerns, stating that parts of the land fall within the Full Tank Level and buffer zone of Lacchamma Kunta. He alleged that feeder channels connected to the water body had been damaged.

Warning of direct action by BRS

Criticising HYDRAA for inaction, Rao questioned its approach in handling encroachments. He said authorities had failed to act despite clear records and court orders.

He warned that if immediate steps were not taken, BRS leaders would visit the site and act against the alleged illegal structures. He also demanded restoration of land rights to the affected farmers.
