Police Probe Mumbai-Agra Highway Crash After Six Killed in Dhule

A major Mumbai-Agra Highway crash at Laling Ghat in Maharashtra’s Dhule district left six people dead and around 20 others injured, according to police. The multi-vehicle accident disrupted traffic movement for several hours and triggered a large-scale police investigation at the accident site.

Officials said the crash began after a sand-laden dumper truck allegedly entered the wrong side of the highway near Laling Ghat and collided head-on with a container truck moving toward Dhule. The latest update from authorities confirmed that the impact blocked one side of the highway and caused severe traffic congestion.

Mumbai-Agra Highway Crash Triggered by Wrong-Side Driving

Police said the dumper truck was travelling in the wrong direction through the ghat section when it rammed into the container vehicle. The collision occurred on the busy Mumbai-Agra Highway stretch known for heavy commercial traffic movement.

Soon after the initial accident, toll plaza employees and local police teams rushed to the spot to remove the damaged trucks and manage traffic flow. However, before the road could be cleared, a luxury travel bus travelling from Nashik toward Dhule crashed into the two vehicles already stranded on the highway.

The incident details shared by officials indicated that the bus suffered major damage due to the collision. Rescue operations began immediately after the crash.

Six Dead, 20 Injured in Dhule Road Accident

Among the six deceased, five were passengers travelling in the luxury bus, while the sixth victim was an employee working at the nearby Laling toll plaza. Police confirmed that several injured passengers were shifted for medical treatment following the accident.

Authorities said around 20 people sustained injuries in the road accident. The exact condition of the injured persons was not immediately disclosed in the official statement released after the incident.

The Dhule road accident caused panic among commuters using the Mumbai-Agra Highway during peak traffic movement.

Police Investigation Underway After Multi-Vehicle Collision

Police registered a case and launched an investigation into the multi-vehicle collision. Officials are examining the sequence of events, including the alleged wrong-side movement of the dumper truck that reportedly triggered the accident.

Traffic police diverted vehicles onto the Nashik-bound lane after one side of the highway remained blocked for several hours. Recovery teams worked at the scene to remove the damaged vehicles and restore normal traffic movement.

The Mumbai-Agra Highway accident once again highlighted concerns over highway safety, heavy vehicle movement, and wrong-side driving on major transport corridors in Maharashtra.
