Hyderabad Police Arrest Accused in Meerchowk Double Murder Case

Accused Held Within 24 Hours in Charminar Zone

Hyderabad Police have arrested the accused in the double murder case reported under the Meerchowk Police Station limits. The arrest was made on April 21, 2026, at around 14:00 hours.

The operation was carried out under the directions of Shamshabad DCP (In-charge Charminar Zone) B. Rajesh, and Additional DCP Charminar Zone M.A. Majeed. The investigation was supervised by Meerchowk ACP G. Shyam Sundar, with the SHO and police team executing the arrest.

Case Registered Under BNS Provisions

The accused, identified as Adil Khan (35), has been booked in Crime No. 113/2026 under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Meerchowk Police Station.

Police confirmed that the accused was apprehended during the course of investigation. Items, including a mobile phone and blood-stained clothes, were seized from his possession.

Double Murder Reported in Sultanpura Residence

The incident occurred on April 20, 2026, at approximately 18:00 hours. The victims, Aqeel Khan (30) and his wife Ajmeera Begum (26), were present at their residence in Sultanpura at the time of the attack.

According to the case details, Adil Khan, who is the elder brother of Aqeel Khan, allegedly entered the house armed with a knife and attacked both victims.

Both Aqeel Khan and Ajmeera Begum sustained severe injuries to the neck and chest during the assault. They died on the spot due to the extent of the injuries.

Accused Escaped After Incident

Following the attack, the accused fled the scene. Police initiated an investigation immediately after the incident was reported. In a related incident, Hyderabad Police earlier registered a double murder case in the Old City.

As part of the probe, the weapon used in the crime, a knife, was recovered from the crime scene. Further evidence was collected to establish the sequence of events.

Victim and Accused Background

The deceased Aqeel Khan was a driver and son of Iqbal Khan. His wife, Ajmeera Begum, was a homemaker. The couple resided at Kali Khabar, Chaderghat, under Meerchowk limits.

The accused, Adil Khan, is also the son of Iqbal Khan and works in fabrication. He resides near Charminar Masjid in Pahadishareef, Rangareddy district.

Motive Linked to Personal and Financial Disputes

Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused harboured resentment towards the couple over multiple issues. Police indicated that jealousy over the couple having children while he did not was one of the factors.

Differences related to child adoption and disputes over hand loan transactions were also cited as contributing factors behind the crime.

Police Team Commended for Swift Action

The accused was arrested within 24 hours of the incident. Senior officials commended the efforts of the investigating team for the swift progress in the case.

Meerchowk SHO M. Kondal Rao, DI N. Saidiah, SI Santosh Kumar, WSI CH Anita, and constables Arun Kumar, R. Bhaskar, and Shiva Goud were appreciated by Charminar Zone senior officers for their role in solving the case promptly.

Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Police stated that further investigation is underway to complete procedural formalities and strengthen the case. The accused will be produced as per legal requirements.

The case remains under active investigation to ensure all aspects are thoroughly examined.
