Police arrest man for attempting to electrocute mother-in-law in Jagtial
Incident reported from Jagdevpet village
Police have arrested a 48-year-old man for allegedly attempting to kill his mother-in-law by rigging an electric connection to her house entrance in Jagdevpet village of Jagtial district.
The accused, identified as Mallareddy, is said to have carried out the act following a domestic dispute involving his wife, Padma.
Domestic dispute leads to extreme act
According to the details, Padma had left her matrimonial home and returned to her parental house along with her children after ongoing conflicts with her husband.
Despite repeated requests, her family did not send her back. This reportedly led to growing resentment in Mallareddy, who began holding his mother-in-law Rajavva responsible for the situation.
Electric trap set at house entrance
Investigators said Mallareddy planned to harm Rajavva and arranged an electric connection to the doors of her house. The setup was intended to deliver a shock when the door was opened.
On the morning of the incident, Rajavva came in contact with the door and received a mild electric shock. She escaped with minor impact, preventing a more serious outcome.
Complaint leads to arrest
Following the incident, Rajavva lodged a complaint with the police. Based on her statement, officers registered a case and took Mallareddy into custody.
Police said further investigation is underway to examine the circumstances and intent behind the act.
The case highlights how unresolved domestic disputes can escalate into criminal acts. The intervention of police in this instance prevented a potentially fatal incident.
