MAHABUBABAD: The Mahabubabad Town Police arrested a 19-year-old youth on charges of kidnapping and raping a minor girl. The Mahabubabad POCSO case was registered after the victim's father filed a formal complaint.

Town Inspector Gatla Mahender Reddy confirmed the arrest on Sunday. The accused has been identified as Chilukabathini Ranjith, a resident of Narsimhulapeta mandal.

Details of the Mahabubabad POCSO Case

Ranjith, who works in the decoration business, allegedly trapped the 15-year-old girl under the pretext of love. Police reports suggest he lured the minor and sexually assaulted her.

The incident came to light after the girl went missing last Monday. She had come to Mahabubabad town, where the accused met her and took her away on his motorcycle.

Police Action and Charges

Following a complaint from the girl’s father, the Town Police launched an investigation. They tracked down the accused and took him into custody.

The police have booked Ranjith under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code for kidnapping.

The Inspector stated that the accused has been produced before the court and sent to judicial remand. Medical examinations for the victim have been conducted as per protocol.

Evidence collection is currently underway to strengthen the chargesheet. Police officials have warned of strict action against those exploiting minors.
