Excise Teams Conduct Raids on Illicit Liquor Units in Mahabubabad, Register Three Cases
Joint enforcement teams carried out a large-scale operation against illicit liquor manufacturing units in Telangana's Mahabubabad district on Thursday, registering cases against three accused, seizing illegally produced liquor and raw materials, and destroying a substantial quantity of fermented jaggery wash used in the brewing process.
The raids were conducted on July 3, 2026, under the supervision of Warangal Enforcement Assistant Commissioner K. Naveen Kumar. Officials targeted multiple locations within the jurisdiction of the Mahabubabad Excise Station as part of an enforcement drive aimed at curbing the production and distribution of illicit country liquor.
According to excise officials, the operation covered Shanigapuram Thanda, Boda Gutta Thanda, Nadivada, Gaddi Gudem Thanda and Anantharam village in Mahabubabad mandal. The coordinated action involved personnel from the Mahabubabad Excise Station, the District Task Force (DTF) Mahabubabad and the Warangal Enforcement Team.
Seizures and Cases Registered
During the raids, officials registered cases against three individuals allegedly connected with illicit liquor activities.
The enforcement teams seized 17 litres of illicit country liquor (commonly known as natu sara) along with 10 kilograms of alum, which is reportedly used during the illegal brewing process. In addition, authorities destroyed approximately 1,200 litres of fermented jaggery wash prepared for the manufacture of illicit liquor.
The destruction of the jaggery wash is intended to prevent further production before the liquor reaches the distribution stage, reducing the availability of illegally manufactured alcohol in the area.
Joint Enforcement Operation
The operation was conducted jointly by multiple excise enforcement units operating in the district. Such coordinated raids are routinely undertaken to identify illegal brewing sites, seize contraband materials and take legal action against those involved in the manufacture of unauthorised liquor.
Excise officials stated that, following the operation, the accused were produced before the Tahsildar and bound over, as confirmed by the Circle Inspector.
Authorities continue to monitor areas identified as vulnerable to illicit liquor production and have been carrying out periodic enforcement drives to curb illegal brewing activities and ensure compliance with excise regulations.
