Andhra Pradesh Government Orders Medical Assistance After Kurnool Road Accident Kills Eight

Collision Between Goods Vehicle And Tanker Near Mantralayam

A major road accident occurred near Chilakaladona village in the Mantralayam mandal of Kurnool district, resulting in the death of eight pilgrims. The incident took place when a Bolero goods vehicle, carrying 21 passengers, collided with a tanker while heading toward the Mantralayam Sri Raghavendra Swamy Temple.

The victims were identified as residents of Uddeva and surrounding villages in the Tarikere Taluk of Chikballapur district, Karnataka. Local police reached the spot immediately after the collision to initiate rescue operations and manage the heavy traffic buildup on the highway.

Official Identification Of Deceased Victims

The Mantralayam police have identified the deceased as Kumar (50), Deepika Veena (42), Sunil (40), Yashoda alias Thayamma (60), Puttamma (55), Lakshmi, Meenakshi, and five-year-old Belli. Most of the victims hailed from Kanayakana Halli and Chettihalli villages.

The bodies of the deceased were shifted to the Yemmiganur Government Hospital for post-mortem examinations. Preliminary investigations suggest that the high number of occupants in the goods vehicle contributed to the severity of the casualties during the impact with the tanker.
