Bhadradri Kothagudem police on Sunday registered a case after a mother and daughter died by suicide at a private hospital in Khammam. The deceased, identified as 35-year-old R. Ramya and her eight-year-old daughter Aadya, were residents of the Babu Camp area in the district headquarters.

The tragic mother and daughter suicide Bhadradri Kothagudem incident has shocked locals as details of personal betrayal and financial distress emerge. According to the latest update, both victims succumbed during treatment on Saturday midnight after battling for their lives for nearly three weeks.

Bhadradri Kothagudem Police Investigation Reveals Marital and Financial Distress

The incident details provided by the family reveal that Ramya was previously married to Rampa Naveen from Manuguru, but the couple later divorced. Following the separation, Ramya had been residing at her maternal home with her young daughter. Her ex-husband, Naveen, recently passed away in Manuguru due to an illness.

Preliminary reports suggest that the ex-husband's death, coupled with extreme loneliness and severe financial crisis, caused Ramya deep emotional distress. Local inputs indicate that a local youth named Sudhakar had allegedly promised to marry her but breached her trust by arranging his marriage with another woman.

Official Statement Confirms Prolonged Hospital Treatment

Deeply upset over the developments, Ramya mixed poison into her daughter Aadya's food before consuming it herself on April 28. Family members immediately rushed them to the Kothagudem Government Hospital, from where they were moved to a private facility in Khammam for advanced treatment.

The mother and daughter fought for survival in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) as doctors monitored their critical state. An official statement confirmed that their condition worsened severely on May 16, 2026, leading to their tragic demise in the hospital.

Case Registered by One Town Police to Stop Quiet Funeral

A tense situation developed on Sunday when some individuals attempted to perform the last rites secretly without informing law enforcement. Upon receiving information about the clandestine funeral arrangements, the Kothagudem One Town police team reached the spot and stopped the cremation.

Following a formal complaint lodged by Ramya's brother, a criminal case registered by the local police has initiated the formal inquiry. Authorities have moved the bodies to the government mortuary for a post-mortem examination to aid the ongoing police investigation into the mother and daughter suicide Bhadradri Kothagudem case.
