Police in Madhya Pradesh have arrested a 38-year-old man for allegedly murdering his second wife following a domestic dispute over food. The incident, which took place in Khargone district, has shocked the local community due to the suspect's conduct following the crime.

According to police officials, the accused, identified as Jagdish Dabar, reportedly stayed inside the house with the victim's body for two days. During this period, he continued to sleep on the same bed as the corpse while his two minor children, aged three and four, remained in the room.

Dispute over meal led to fatal assault

The investigation revealed that Jagdish and his 25-year-old wife, Reemabai, frequently argued over trivial domestic matters. On the night of the incident, a heated verbal spat broke out between the couple regarding a meal.

In a fit of rage, Jagdish allegedly picked up a wooden stick and brutally assaulted Reemabai. The victim suffered severe injuries and succumbed to excessive internal bleeding at the spot before any medical help could be summoned.

Accused lived with children and corpse for 48 hours

Instead of alerting the authorities or neighbors, the accused remained in the residence for the next 48 hours. He reportedly managed his routine and slept beside the body on the bed, keeping his two toddlers inside the same room.

The crime came to light only when the father of the accused visited the house and discovered the decomposed body. He immediately informed the local police, who arrived at the scene to secure the area and recover the remains.

Legal action and custody

The Khargone police have sent Reemabai’s body for a post-mortem examination to confirm the exact cause and timing of death. Jagdish Dabar was taken into custody immediately following the discovery.

Police confirmed that the suspect had previously abandoned his first wife and four children to marry Reemabai, who was his sister-in-law. Following his arrest, the accused was produced before a local court and subsequently shifted to jail.
