Khammam Women Police Register Dowry Harassment Case Against Husband and In-Laws

A dowry harassment case has been registered at the Khammam Women Police Station following a complaint filed by a woman alleging prolonged abuse by her husband and in-laws. The latest update in the case has drawn attention to serious allegations of additional dowry demands and domestic harassment.

According to the complaint, the victim, Yarlagadda Swathi, a resident of Chaitanyanagar in Khammam, approached the police seeking legal action against her husband, Yarlagadda Kiran Kumar, and his parents, Sheshagiri Rao and Ramadevi.

Dowry Harassment Case: Incident Details

As per the complaint, Swathi married businessman Yarlagadda Kiran Kumar, a native of Bayyaram village in Mahabubabad district, in 2012. She stated that her family provided substantial dowry at the time of the marriage.

The complaint claims that the family gave Rs.50 lakh in cash, 30 tolas of gold, and household articles worth around Rs.8 lakh. The couple has two daughters, and the family life reportedly remained peaceful during the initial four years of the marriage.

The victim alleged that after that period, her husband and in-laws began pressuring her for additional dowry. She further stated that, in the presence of elders, her father later paid another Rs.20 lakh in an attempt to resolve the dispute.

Allegations Lead to Police Investigation

In her complaint, Swathi also alleged that her husband was involved in an extramarital relationship. She claimed that after learning about the alleged relationship, she was subjected to both physical and mental harassment by her husband and his parents.

The allegations form a key part of the ongoing police investigation, and officials are examining the incident details provided by the complainant.

Khammam Women Police Register Case

The complainant approached the Khammam Women Police Station on Thursday and submitted a formal complaint. Based on her statement, the police registered a case against the accused persons.

Inspector Chittibabu confirmed that a case registered on the complaint has been taken up for investigation. Police are carrying out the necessary legal procedures as part of the official inquiry.
