Hyderabad Police Form SIT to Probe Jubilee Hills Sex Trap Case; Arrests Reach Six

The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner Sajjanar, has constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the Jubilee Hills sex trap case, as the investigation deepens and the number of victims is believed to be far larger than initially reported. Six accused have been arrested so far, including the prime suspect Chandrasekhar alias Arjun, and the probe is now extending to Bengaluru.

The case, which has already seen five separate FIRs registered, is emerging as one of the more serious organised exploitation cases the city has handled in recent years.

SIT Constituted with Senior Officers

Commissioner Sajjanar has placed two Deputy Commissioners of Police and one Assistant Commissioner of Police on the SIT, alongside an officer from the Anti-Human Trafficking unit. The decision to bring in the anti-trafficking wing signals that investigators suspect this may not be an isolated incident involving a single gang, but a more structured operation.

The SIT has been tasked with probing the case further and identifying all victims, who are believed to be spread across multiple locations.

Key Accused and Custodial Remand

The prime accused, Chandrasekhar alias Arjun, was among those taken into custody in the initial phase of the police investigation. His brother Rajeev has since been taken on a three-day police remand, suggesting investigators believe he holds key information about the gang's operations.

According to police, a large number of victims fell into the trap laid by the Arjun gang. Five cases have already been registered across different police jurisdictions, with more likely as the investigation proceeds.

Bengaluru Connection Under Scanner

Evidence gathered during the probe reportedly indicates that more members of the gang are based in Bengaluru. The SIT team has already travelled to Bengaluru in connection with the arrests, as per sources familiar with the investigation.

The inter-city dimension of the case has added urgency to the investigation, and officials expect further arrests as the team works through its leads.

The Jubilee Hills sex trap case had earlier come to light involving what were described locally as "rich kids" allegedly using influence and wealth to exploit victims. Police have not ruled out that the actual scale of the operation may be considerably larger than what the registered cases reflect at this stage.
