Marriage through social media leads to tragic death

A software employee died by suicide within a month of her marriage, with allegations of harassment linked to additional dowry demands. The incident involves Ishika Yadav, a native of Bihar, who had married Neeraj Bansal from Madhya Pradesh.

The two had reportedly come into contact through social media in 2020. Their marriage was conducted on February 20, 2026, in the presence of elders from both families.

The couple was residing in the Miyapur apartment

After the marriage, Ishika and Neeraj were living in an apartment in Miyapur. Ishika was employed as a software professional at the time of the incident.

According to available details, the couple had recently been facing disputes. The disagreements were reportedly linked to demands for additional dowry.

Allegations of harassment surface

The situation escalated into repeated arguments between the couple. Ishika was allegedly subjected to harassment by her husband over the dowry issue.

Unable to cope with the alleged harassment, she died by suicide at her residence. She reportedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan inside the house.
