Guntur POCSO Court Awards Jail Term In Minor Girl Harassment Case

The Guntur POCSO Court has sentenced a man to five years in prison in a minor girl harassment case reported from Palnadu district. The latest update in the case comes after the court found the accused guilty of inappropriate behaviour towards a 12-year-old girl in a village under Krosuru mandal.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs.10,000 on the convict. The incident details relate to an offence that took place in May 2022 when the girl was reportedly asleep at her residence during the night.

Police Investigation Led To Arrest In Palnadu Case

According to prosecution records, the accused, identified as Manda Nagaraju, allegedly behaved inappropriately with the minor girl during midnight hours. Family members later brought the matter to the attention of local authorities.

Narasaraopet subdivision police conducted the police investigation and registered a case against the accused following the complaint. Officials later arrested Nagaraju and filed charges under relevant sections linked to offences against minors.

The investigation process included recording witness statements and submitting evidence before the court. Authorities stated that the case registered against the accused was supported with material evidence during trial proceedings.

Guntur POCSO Court Delivers Official Verdict

The Guntur POCSO Court examined the evidence and heard arguments presented during the trial before delivering its judgment on Monday. The judge concluded that the offence had been proven during the court proceedings.

As part of the official statement issued through court proceedings, the accused was sentenced to five years of imprisonment along with a monetary penalty of Rs.10,000. The court order marked the conclusion of the legal proceedings initiated after the 2022 incident.

Officials connected to the investigation stated that strict action was taken under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act due to the seriousness of the allegations.
