A father allegedly killed his son with a cricket bat before taking his own life in Mittamidipalle village of Ardhaveedu mandal, in a tragic incident that has left the local community in shock.
According to residents, the deceased have been identified as Pathan Silar, 55, and his elder son Javeed, 28. Silar and his wife Sabira had two sons and a daughter, with Javeed residing with his parents at the family home.
Sequence of events
The incident occurred on Tuesday morning after Sabira left for agricultural labour work in the fields. Villagers said a dispute broke out between the father and son at home during her absence, though the exact cause of the disagreement has not been established.
Following the argument, Javeed reportedly had his meal and lay down to sleep outside the house. Silar allegedly attacked him with a cricket bat, striking him on the head. Javeed died at the scene as a result of the injuries.
Police said Silar, apparently distressed after the assault, went back inside the house and died by suicide, hanging himself from a ceiling fan.
Police response
On being alerted, police reached the village, registered a case, and began an investigation into the circumstances surrounding both deaths. Authorities are examining the sequence of events leading up to the incident.
The deaths of both father and son have cast a pall over Mittamidipalle village, with residents expressing shock at the loss of two members of the same family within a single incident.
