ACB Probe Into DSP Bheem Reddy Expands After Diary Reveals Alleged Benami Asset Trail

The investigation into alleged disproportionate assets linked to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sankireddy Bheem Reddy has widened after the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) recovered a personal diary that investigators believe could play a key role in the case. According to the ACB, searches conducted earlier this month uncovered assets allegedly held through benami arrangements, with the estimated value of identified properties at around Rs. 200 crore. Officials have indicated that the market value could be significantly higher, though the investigation is still ongoing.

The case stems from allegations that Bheem Reddy accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. On July 2, ACB teams carried out simultaneous searches at 15 to 16 locations, including the officer's residence and other premises linked to the investigation.

Cash, Jewellery and Property Documents Seized

During the searches, investigators seized Rs. 3.6 lakh in cash from Bheem Reddy's residence and another Rs. 40 lakh from the residence of an alleged benami holder. Officials also recovered nearly two kilograms of gold jewellery, around 20 kilograms of silver articles, and bank balances amounting to approximately Rs. 19.91 lakh.

According to the source material, officials also found 23 bottles of foreign liquor during the searches. The matter has reportedly been referred to the Excise Department for further action.

The ACB has identified a wide range of immovable assets allegedly connected to the accused. These include a villa in Vasella Meadows at Ibrahim Bagh, a G+2 residential building with a penthouse in Telecom Nagar, apartments in Gachibowli and Tellapur, commercial properties in Manikonda, and plots in Nagole, Patancheru and Pragathi Resorts.

The investigation has also identified agricultural land in Sangareddy, Vikarabad, Zaheerabad, Shamshabad and Mominpet, along with certain properties in Karnataka. Officials further traced an investment of Rs. 75 lakh in a rock sand mining company. Among the assets identified are a flat registered in the name of Bheem Reddy's daughter and a farmhouse allegedly held in the name of a friend.

Diary Emerges as a Key Piece of Evidence

Investigators consider a handwritten diary recovered during the probe to be one of the most significant pieces of evidence in the case.

According to the ACB, Bheem Reddy wrote entries in the diary before leaving on a Char Dham pilgrimage with his wife in May. The diary allegedly contains details of nearly 20 properties, outstanding liabilities, loans and benami holdings. It also reportedly includes instructions on how assets should be distributed among family members.

Officials say photographs of the diary pages were sent via WhatsApp to his two sons before the journey. The diary, recovered from his wife, has since been seized by investigators.

The ACB states that information contained in the diary helped identify 15 alleged benami holders. Among the entries are references to 45 acres of land in Zaheerabad allegedly held in the name of a former Home Guard, two acres in Mominpet, 4.2 acres in Muchintal and flats in Tellapur allegedly registered in the name of a watchman.

Investigators also said the diary contains details of intermediaries, a business investment of Rs. 2 crore and records relating to the purchase of a villa valued at Rs. 60 lakh.

Arrest and Ongoing Investigation

During the initial searches, Bheem Reddy was taken to a hospital after reportedly experiencing health complications related to elevated blood pressure. He was subsequently arrested by the ACB.

The agency later produced him before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody. The investigation remains in progress.

Officials are expected to record statements from alleged benami holders, intermediaries and family members as part of the inquiry. Four mobile phones have been seized and are being examined for digital evidence that could assist the investigation.

The source material also states that 13 acres of ancestral land in Mahabubnagar have not been included in the disproportionate assets case.

Investigation Continues

The case has drawn considerable attention within the Telangana Police. Bheem Reddy previously served as Circle Inspector in Jadcherla and later as DSP in Patancheru.

The ACB has not indicated that the investigation is complete, and officials are continuing to verify financial records, property ownership and other documentary evidence. Authorities have not announced the filing of a charge sheet, and the allegations against the accused remain under investigation.
