Cyberabad Police Register Case Over Sharing POCSO Victim Details Online

The Cyberabad Police have registered a fresh case in connection with the alleged circulation of a minor girl’s personal details linked to the POCSO case involving BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar’s son. The latest update comes after police confirmed that the girl is a minor based on official records examined during the investigation.

According to police officials, the victim’s birth certificate issued by a private hospital in Hyderabad was submitted during the probe. Based on the document, authorities verified the corresponding GHMC records of that year and concluded that the girl was legally a minor at the time of the incident.

Police Investigation Into POCSO Victim Details

The case was registered after the Medchal-Malkajgiri District Child Welfare Committee Chairperson filed a complaint regarding the circulation of the victim’s photographs, videos, and family details on social media platforms.

Police said that in FIR No. 706/2026, a case has been registered under Section 74 of the Juvenile Justice Act, Section 72(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and Section 23 of the POCSO Act.

The complaint is linked to FIR No. 684/2026, which was earlier registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Officials stated that revealing the identity of a minor victim in such cases is a direct violation of the law.

Social Media Accounts Under Scanner

As part of the police investigation, authorities have identified several Instagram and Facebook accounts allegedly involved in sharing sensitive content related to the victim and her parents.

Police confirmed that the URLs and account details have been forwarded to the concerned authorities for further legal action. Officials are now working to identify the individuals operating those social media handles.

Separate cases have also been registered against social media administrators and users who allegedly published the victim’s photographs, videos, and personal information online.

Official Statement Warns Against Sharing Victim Information

In an official statement issued by the Station House Officer of Pet-Basheerabad Police Station, Cyberabad Police urged the public and social media administrators not to disclose the identity or personal details of minor victims in POCSO cases.

Police said such disclosures cause severe mental distress to the victim and her family and amount to a punishable offence under existing laws.

Authorities also warned that strict legal action would be taken against individuals found circulating such material online. The police investigation into the matter is currently underway.

The latest update in the POCSO case has drawn attention to increasing concerns over the misuse of social media platforms during sensitive criminal investigations, especially cases involving minors and child protection laws.
