Congress Leader Manickam Tagore Slams Chandrababu Naidu Over Support for Delimitation Exercise

Senior Congress leader Manickam Tagore has launched a sharp political attack against Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of prioritizing political power over ideological consistency. The criticism follows the Chief Minister’s recent stance on administrative and demographic policies.

Tagore alleged that the TDP chief is compromising the future of Andhra Pradesh to ensure his own political survival. The Congress leader referenced historical political shifts to argue that the Chief Minister has a track record of shifting loyalties for executive gains.

Concerns Over Delimitation and Southern Representation

The primary point of contention involves the proposed delimitation process, which critics argue could reduce the political influence of Southern states in Parliament. Tagore claimed that Naidu is supporting a "discriminatory" delimitation plan in coordination with Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

According to the Congress leader, this support effectively weakens the voice of South India. He argued that instead of resisting the move, the Chief Minister is distracting the public by advocating for larger family sizes, which Tagore described as a lecture aimed at benefiting specific interests.

Allegations of Political Capitulation

The Congress leadership has termed the Chief Minister’s current alignment with the central government as a "planned surrender." Tagore stated that this cooperation represents a betrayal of the people’s mandate and the state's long-term interests.

The dispute highlights the growing friction between the INDIA bloc and the NDA constituents regarding the redistribution of Lok Sabha seats. While the TDP maintains that its alliance is focused on state development, the Congress insists that the move will lead to a permanent imbalance in national representation.

Strategic Shift in Andhra Politics

The administrative focus in Andhra Pradesh has recently shifted toward balancing central schemes with state priorities. However, opposition parties are now intensifying their scrutiny of how these alliances impact regional autonomy and demographic-based resource allocation.

The Congress party indicated it would continue to raise the issue of delimitation across South India, positioning itself against leaders who support the central government’s current trajectory on seat restructuring.
