Union Minister Bandi Sanjay Targets Sirisilla SP Over Absence at School Event
Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar sparked controversy on Saturday after making sharp remarks against Rajanna Sirisilla district's Superintendent of Police, Mahesh Geete, for not being present at an official school programme. The comments, made in public and now widely circulating on social media, have drawn significant political attention.
It was not a private gripe — the minister said it loud, on the ground, in front of party workers and school officials.

Bandi Sanjay had arrived as the chief guest for the 'Maa Badi Maa Badhyata' programme held at the Government Boys High School in Rajanna-Sircilla district headquarters. The event, organised on Saturday, was focused on school infrastructure and community participation in public education.
As he stepped out of his vehicle, the minister immediately noticed the SP's absence.
What followed were remarks that went well beyond a routine protocol complaint.

Addressing those present, the Union minister questioned why the district SP held such apparent hostility towards BJP workers. "Why does your SP have so much anger against our people? Is he making them do sit-ups?" he said, in a reference to alleged police harassment of party workers.
He further questioned whether the SP regarded BJP activists as ordinary members of the public rather than political workers.
The minister also took a direct dig at the SP's perceived closeness to the BRS, stating: "If he has so much love for KTR, tell him to go and join the BRS party." These remarks, as per sources present at the event, were made openly and are now part of a video that has gone viral.
Political Fallout and Current Status
The comments by a sitting Union minister against an IPS officer have drawn sharp reactions across political circles in Telangana. Targeting a serving SP by name — and implying partisan leanings — is being seen as a significant escalation by BJP's central leadership against the state police machinery.
As of the latest update, SP Mahesh Geete has not issued any official statement in response to the minister's remarks. The Telangana Police and the state government are yet to formally react to the incident details now doing the rounds on news channels and social media platforms.
The 'Maa Badi Maa Badhyata' initiative is a school development programme under which local representatives and communities are encouraged to contribute to government school infrastructure. Such events typically see senior district officers, including the SP, in attendance.
Bandi Sanjay, a two-term MP from Karimnagar and now a minister at the Centre, has a history of confrontational public statements against the Telangana government and its administration. His targeting of a district-level IPS officer, however, marks a sharper edge to that approach.
