High Court Orders Jail Term for Attapur RDO in Contempt Case
Failure to implement the court directions in the land dispute cited
The High Court has sentenced the Attapur Revenue Divisional Officer (RDO) to one month in jail for contempt of court. The action follows failure to implement court orders in a land dispute case in the Rangareddy district.
The case pertains to the ceiling land spread across Survey Numbers 172 to 183, covering 74 acres in Peddashapur village. The issue was brought before the court after alleged non-compliance with earlier directions.
Petition filed over non-implementation of orders
A petitioner, Yusufuddin, approached the High Court stating that the court’s orders in the land dispute had not been implemented within the stipulated time. The petition highlighted delays in issuing the required orders.
The court examined the matter and found that the directions had not been followed as mandated, leading to contempt proceedings against the official.
The court imposes a jail term and a fine
After hearing the case, the High Court held the Attapur RDO guilty of contempt for not issuing orders within the prescribed time. The court sentenced the officer to one month of imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 2,000.
The order further stated that if the fine is not paid, the jail term will be extended by an additional two weeks.

Relief granted to allow an appeal
The court also provided temporary relief by staying the implementation of the sentence for two weeks. This window allows the official to file an appeal against the order if deemed necessary.
The stay ensures that the officer has time to pursue legal remedies before the sentence comes into effect.
The case relates to a ceiling land dispute involving a significant land extent in the Rangareddy district. Delays in implementing judicial orders in such cases often lead to legal consequences for officials.
The ruling underscores the importance of adherence to court directives and accountability within the administrative system.
