Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha inaugurated the newly constructed Model Women’s Police Station in Eluru on Thursday, emphasizing a shift toward victim-centric law enforcement. The facility has been developed as a premier infrastructure project to serve as a benchmark for similar units across the state.
Infrastructure and Project Costs
The state government has invested approximately 2.73 crore for the construction of this dedicated facility. Sprawling across an area of 30 cents, the building is designed to provide a secure environment for women seeking legal assistance. The Minister noted that the scale and quality of the construction reflect the government's commitment to modernizing the police force.

Focus on Counseling and Victim Support
During the inauguration, Home Minister Anitha stated that the facility should function more as a counseling center than a traditional police station. She highlighted that the architecture and operational protocols have been tailored to ensure that women in distress feel empowered and courageous enough to report their grievances without hesitation.
State-wide Police Modernization
The inauguration marks the beginning of a broader initiative to upgrade law enforcement infrastructure in Andhra Pradesh. The Minister confirmed plans to modernize and overhaul all police stations across the state to improve service delivery. This administrative push aims to bridge the gap between the public and the police through better facilities.
Crackdown on Narcotics
Beyond infrastructure, the Home Minister addressed the prevailing security situation, asserting that the state is maintaining a zero-tolerance policy toward narcotics. She stated that the government is taking stringent measures to curb the drug menace, ensuring that law enforcement agencies act decisively against the trade and consumption of illegal substances.
