Andhra Pradesh Government Issues Ebola Alert Across International Airports
The Andhra Pradesh Government has issued an Ebola Alert following the growing outbreak of the Ebola virus in several African nations. Health authorities have intensified surveillance measures across international airports in Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, and Vijayawada as part of the state’s preventive strategy.
Health Minister Satyakumar Yadav said the state Medical and Health Department has initiated precautionary measures after warnings and guidelines issued by the World Health Organization and the Central Government. The latest update comes amid rising Ebola cases and increasing mortality reports from countries including Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan.
Ebola Alert Triggers Passenger Screening In Andhra Pradesh
Under the Ebola Alert protocol, passengers arriving from affected African countries will undergo screening and diagnostic checks at airports. Officials stated that coordination has already begun between airport authorities and district medical teams to monitor incoming travellers.
The government said individuals showing Ebola-like symptoms would be immediately shifted into quarantine for medical observation. Authorities also confirmed that contact tracing and medical examination procedures would be conducted for people who had close interaction with suspected patients.
According to incident details released by the Health Department, screening systems are being strengthened not only at airports but also for travellers entering through road routes. Discussions were also reportedly held with officials at the Visakhapatnam Port regarding precautionary measures.
Andhra Pradesh Health Department Activates Emergency Preparedness
The state government stated that isolation wards with 15 beds each are being prepared in teaching hospitals located in cities with international airports. Officials said these facilities are intended to manage potential emergency cases if required.
Minister Satyakumar Yadav stated that the Medical and Health Department is drawing from lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic to prepare an emergency action plan. Virtual meetings are also being conducted with ANMs, ASHA workers, and health officials to increase preparedness across all levels.
Authorities confirmed that adequate stocks of PPE kits and virus testing kits are currently available in the state. The government is also receiving traveller-related information from the Central Government regarding people arriving from Ebola-affected countries.
Government Advises Public To Avoid Ebola-Affected Nations
As part of the Ebola Alert, the Andhra Pradesh Government advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel to Congo, Uganda, and South Sudan unless absolutely essential. Officials said individuals who recently returned from Ebola-affected nations should immediately report symptoms of illness to district authorities.
The latest update has placed health departments across districts on alert mode, with surveillance and preventive measures being monitored closely. No Ebola case registered information has been reported in Andhra Pradesh so far, according to available official updates.
The Ebola Alert is expected to remain in effect as authorities continue monitoring international developments and traveller movement linked to affected African regions.
