Wife Arrested After Husband's Body Found Buried Beneath Bathroom Floor in Agra

A shocking murder investigation in Uttar Pradesh's Agra has led to the arrest of a woman after police recovered the body of her husband from beneath the floor of the bathroom in their home. Investigators allege that the accused killed her husband, buried his body inside the house, and concealed the crime by laying fresh tiles over the spot before reporting him missing.

According to police, the victim has been identified as 44-year-old Surendra Kumar Sharma. His wife, Ruby Sharma, aged between 36 and 40, allegedly murdered him and hid his body beneath the bathroom floor. The body was recovered on July 3, around 45 days after Surendra was reported missing.

Police said Ruby initially lodged a missing person complaint, claiming that her husband had disappeared on May 18. However, the investigation later uncovered inconsistencies that prompted officers to examine the residence more closely.

Investigation Uncovers Concealed Burial

The sequence of events began on May 18, when Surendra allegedly went missing. Ruby reportedly told family members that he had left home. As days passed without any trace of him, relatives became increasingly suspicious.

On May 26, following repeated insistence from family members, a missing case was registered at Sikandra Police Station. Throughout the investigation, Surendra's relatives, particularly his brother Anil Sharma, continued to express doubts regarding the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

Police later noticed recently installed bathroom tiles and fresh cement plaster inside the house. The unusual renovations raised suspicion, leading investigators to excavate the bathroom floor on July 3.

During the search, officers recovered Surendra's decomposed body buried beneath the flooring, confirming their suspicions.

Accused Allegedly Confessed During Questioning

During police interrogation, Ruby allegedly admitted to killing her husband. According to investigators, she told police that she mixed approximately 15 to 16 sleeping tablets into a serving of kheer and gave it to Surendra.

After he reportedly lost consciousness, she allegedly strangled him to death.

Police further stated that she then dug a pit beneath the bathroom floor, buried the body, sealed the area with cement plaster, and installed new floor tiles to conceal the remains.

The couple's two young daughters were present in the house during the period surrounding the alleged crime, according to police.

Motive Yet to Be Fully Established

Family members told investigators that Surendra's alcohol addiction frequently led to disputes between the couple. While these domestic conflicts have emerged as part of the investigation, police have not yet confirmed the precise motive behind the alleged murder.

Officials said further questioning of the accused is underway to establish all circumstances leading to the crime.

Forensic Examination Underway

Ruby Sharma has been arrested and remains in police custody for further investigation.

The recovered body has been sent for a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, a forensic team has collected evidence from the house as investigators continue to build the case.

The incident has drawn significant attention in the local area due to the manner in which the alleged crime was carried out. Police have indicated that additional details may emerge as the investigation progresses.
