Adoni Police have seized 13.5 kg of silver biscuits worth around ₹33 lakh during a routine vehicle inspection in Kurnool district. Two silver traders from Emmiganur were arrested after they allegedly failed to produce bills or documents supporting the transport of the precious metal.

The seizure, made during what began as a routine traffic check, has now prompted a wider police investigation.

Adoni Police Recover 13.5 kg of Silver During Vehicle Check

The incident took place on the outskirts of Adoni when police personnel stopped a scooter carrying two men for inspection. During the search, officers found silver biscuits weighing around 13.5 kilograms concealed in the vehicle.

According to police, the estimated market value of the seized silver is about ₹33 lakh. The two occupants were unable to provide purchase bills, invoices, or any other documents proving the lawful transport of the silver.

Two Silver Traders Arrested in Police Investigation

Police identified the accused as Sheikh Shakir and Akshay Jadhav, both silver traders from Emmiganur. As per officials, the duo had travelled to Adoni for silver transactions and were returning to Emmiganur when they were intercepted during vehicle checks.

When questioned, they allegedly failed to explain where the silver had been purchased or identify the seller. Their inability to produce supporting records led police to suspect irregularities in the transportation of the consignment. A case has been registered, and the police investigation is continuing.

Scooter, Mobile Phones Also Seized

Along with the silver biscuits, police seized the scooter used for transport and two mobile phones belonging to the accused. Officials said the preliminary inquiry did not establish the source of the silver or the nature of the transaction.

Investigators are now examining whether the case is linked to illegal silver trading or if a larger network is involved. As per sources, all possible angles are being verified.

Silver to Be Handed Over to Income Tax Authorities

Adoni Circle Inspector Rajasekhar Reddy said the seized silver biscuits and other material evidence would be handed over to Income Tax authorities for further examination. He added that investigators are collecting additional evidence before taking the next course of action.

The latest update in the silver biscuits seizure case indicates that the investigation remains active, with police seeking to establish the origin of the silver and determine whether any organised illegal trade was involved.
