ACB registers case against Vikarabad women police officials in bribery probe

Case registered against the inspector and sub-inspector

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Telangana, has registered a criminal misconduct case against two police officials attached to the Women Police Station in Vikarabad district.

The accused have been identified as AO-1 Smt. B. Saroja, Inspector of Police, and AO-2 Smt. H. Rani, Sub-Inspector of Police. Both officials are currently under investigation following a complaint alleging demand and acceptance of a bribe.


Alleged demand linked to criminal case notice

According to ACB details, the incident is linked to Crime No. 13/2026 registered at the Vikarabad Women Police Station under BNS Sections 85 and 351(2).

On 16-03-2026, the accused officials allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs.60,000 from the complainant to issue notices to him and his family members in connection with the case.

Following repeated requests by the complainant, the amount was reportedly reduced to Rs.40,000.

Partial payment made at police station

On 23-03-2026, the complainant allegedly paid Rs.20,000 as part of the bribe amount to AO-2 Smt. H. Rani. The payment was made at the Women Police Station in the presence of AO-1 Smt. B. Saroja.

Despite the partial payment, the officials continued to demand the remaining amount, prompting the complainant to approach the ACB.

ACB initiates inquiry and registers a case

After receiving the complaint, the ACB conducted a preliminary inquiry into the allegations. Based on the findings, a criminal case was registered against both officials for misconduct.

The investigation is currently in progress, and further legal action will be taken in accordance with established procedures.

Public urged to report corruption

The ACB has reiterated its appeal to the public to report instances of bribery or corruption by government officials.

The bureau has stated that QR codes for reporting corruption are displayed in government offices and prominent public places. It has also assured that the identity of complainants will be kept confidential.
