ACB Officials Arrest Huzurabad Municipality Assistant Engineer For Accepting Rs 50000 Bribe
Anti-Corruption Bureau Traps AE Red-Handed The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday apprehended Nusum Sudhakar Reddy, an Assistant Engineer (AE) at the Huzurabad Municipality, while he was allegedly accepting a bribe. The official was caught red-handed at the RTC Depot Junction in Huzurabad.
ACB officials recovered the bribe amount of Rs 50,000 from the possession of the accused during the operation. The trap was laid following a formal complaint regarding the engineer's demand for illegal gratification to discharge his official duties.
Drainage Project Bill Processing Led To Bribery Demand Investigation revealed that Sudhakar Reddy demanded the bribe to process a pending bill related to the construction of a storm water drain. The contractor, seeking the release of payments for the completed works, approached the anti-graft agency after the AE refused to forward the file without the payment.
The agency verified the complaint before executing the trap at the specified location near the RTC Depot. The recovery of the currency notes was followed by a chemical test, which confirmed the involvement of the municipal official.
Legal Proceedings And Custody Under Prevention Of Corruption Act Following the seizure and the completion of necessary formalities at the spot, the ACB team took Sudhakar Reddy into custody. He has been booked under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The accused official is being produced before the Special Court for ACB cases. Authorities are further investigating if other officials within the municipal department played a role in stalling the bill or if there are additional instances of financial irregularities involving the AE.
